IT Security and Compliance projects for Demant at Demant

About Demant

Demant is a world-leading hearing healthcare and technology group built on a heritage of care, health, and innovation since 1904.  From hearing care, hearing aids, diagnostic equipment and services to audio solutions, the group offers innovative technologies, solutions, and expertise to help people hear better.

Headquartered in Denmark, Demant employs around 20,000 people globally and is present in 130 countries where we create life-changing hearing health, high-end audio, and video solutions.

The purpose of this project is to provide the possibility for our business owners and system owners to have a detailed analysis that brings up opportunities for improvement as well as key metrics that will make them able to make decisions based on facts.

What project opportunities do we have?

  1. Third party risk management practical recommendations
  2. Data discovery & data classification in live systems and data archives
  3. Linux and Kubernetes usage
  4. FIDO2 authentication, can it replace or supplement existing MFA internally – and where/who
  5. Salesforce security, status & recommendations across all business units
  6. Systems dependencies mapping
  7. Risk reporting based on vulnerability information

All projects require the ability to search and set up interviews with stakeholders within the organization as the source information in most projects is fragmented and varies between departments, countries, and the four business units. The outcome of the suggested projects are reports with summaries of finds and practical prioritized recommendations. All recommendations should be roughly estimated and include the likelihood of successful implementation/realization. Depending on the project, the scope can be reduced from 130 countries to the 5-10 major ones.

Resources available

We expect the student to be master students with access to a supervisor from ITU that can inspire problem solutions and general subject theory. It is with physical (or partly virtually) presence in Smørum as part of the IT Security & Compliance team, using a Demant laptop at a dedicated desk and next to the IT platform specialist from Global IT, EPIS. We will assign a mentor from IT Security, the amount of time allocated per week by the mentor has previously been between 1-3 hours pr. week with more time at the end for report assistance if needed. Final report may be written in Danish. We offer reference for the student in relation to later job seeking.

Attention: Often you need a pre-approval from your university or study counselor, to ensure that projects or thesis found on UU CareerGate will be accepted as part of your education. Please contact the right entity in due time to ensure that you're picking the right project.
