About the role
This role sits with the Post Trade team in our London office. Post-Trade Operations Engineers (PTOEs) build and support systems to connect with external parties for communicating data about trades and other transactions, interpret data received from external parties, and generally facilitate the Operations group’s workflows and processes through the use of technology.
The group operates in an ever-changing trading environment, which routinely presents a variety of novel and exciting puzzles involving many groups across the firm. Strong problem solving, investigative skills and effective communication are fundamental for the role.
When working with the Operations team to provide technology solutions for their needs, PTOEs aim to deeply understand the issues at hand before creating a solution - either by extending our current infrastructure or building a new system from scratch. Due to the frequently investigative character of the role, a keen intellectual curiosity is an important requirement for candidates.
The PTOE team is still young and growing, so new members are expected to contribute to the team’s processes and drive the implementation of workflow improvements.
The prime requirements for this role are strong communication and problem solving skills, a high level of intellectual curiosity, and a keen sense of responsibility and ownership.
On the technical side this role minimally requires basic familiarity with the Unix command line and some programming experience - as a rough guideline, you should be able to implement a simple game like Sudoku in your language of choice.
Experience in a similar role is a bonus, as is more extensive programming skill and prior knowledge of the mechanics of financial transactions.
